FFCU Trade Mastery Scholarship

Fremont Federal Credit Union offers the Trade Mastery Scholarship to graduating high school seniors who are pursuing careers in the skilled trades. Scholarship awards will be used to purchase approved tools, equipment, or required supplies to support recipients as they begin their trade or apprenticeship.

Applicants and/or their parent or legal guardian must be a member of Fremont Federal Credit Union in good standing as of January 1, 2025.

Selection Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated based on the following:

  1. Academic Performance (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50)
  2. School Involvement and Leadership
  3. Community Involvement and Service
  4. Completion of all required application questions and materials

Application Requirements & Submission Instructions
To be considered, applicants must complete all required sections of the application and submit all supporting documentation by the stated deadline.

Required Materials
Applicants must submit:

  • A completed, typed application
  • Two letters of recommendation:
    • One from a school representative
    • One from a non-school source (employer, volunteer supervisor, or organization leader)
  • An official or counselor-verified high school transcript
  • Any additional documentation requested during the review process
  • Participation in an interview with the Scholarship Committee, if selected

Submission Deadline
All application materials must be received by April 1, 2026.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection & Eligibility

  • Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.
  • The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final.
  • Students of Fremont Federal Credit Union employees and Board Members are not eligible.

Important Notice
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all required materials (including recommendation letters and transcripts) are submitted by the deadline. Fremont Federal Credit Union is not responsible for missing or late documents.

AGREEMENT – FFCU Trade Mastery Scholarship

By submitting this application, I acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • I understand that this scholarship application and all supporting materials become the property of Fremont Federal Credit Union (FFCU) and will not be returned.
     
  • I agree that Fremont Federal Credit Union retains full discretionary authority, including publicity, recognition, selection, and award decisions, in all matters pertaining to this scholarship.
     
  • I certify that the information provided in this application is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. I understand that providing false or misleading information may result in disqualification or forfeiture of the scholarship. I will notify Fremont Federal Credit Union of any changes to my application or eligibility status.
     
  • I understand that the FFCU Trade Mastery Scholarship is not a cash scholarship. Scholarship funds will not be issued to the applicant in the form of cash, checks, gift cards, prepaid cards, refunds, or direct payments of any kind.
     
  • I understand that, if selected, Fremont Federal Credit Union will purchase approved tools, equipment, uniforms, or supplies directly on my behalf for use in my chosen trade or apprenticeship.
     
  • I understand that all tools and supplies must be directly related to my approved trade or apprenticeship, must be pre-approved by Fremont Federal Credit Union, and may not be exchanged, refunded, substituted, or resold.
     
  • I acknowledge that ownership of purchased tools transfers to the recipient upon delivery, but misuse, resale, or misrepresentation of need may impact eligibility for future FFCU programs.
     
  • I understand that it is my responsibility to ensure that acceptance of this scholarship does not negatively impact any other financial aid, employer assistance, or training benefits. Fremont Federal Credit Union is not responsible for any reduction, adjustment, or cancellation of other aid.
     
  • I understand that all required employment, apprenticeship, or program documentation must be submitted by June of the scholarship year. If the required information is not received by this deadline, the scholarship will be considered null and void and may be reassigned at the discretion of Fremont Federal Credit Union.
     
  • I understand that failure to provide documentation, or failure to meet deadlines may result in forfeiture of the scholarship, and Fremont Federal Credit Union reserves the right to reassign the award.
     
  • I acknowledge that eligibility for this scholarship is limited to students attending high schools within Sandusky, Ottawa, Seneca, Wood, Lucas, Hancock, or Fulton County.
  • Please state the names of your parents/guardians and the account number under which you are associated with.

Scholarship recipients will be recognized at Fremont Federal Credit Union’s Annual Meeting in May. Recipients will be notified of the specific date once it is finalized. (Account numbers will not be published.)
