Each year, a select group of high performance businesses take on the challenge to "jump start" the annual campaign by becoming a Pacesetter for United Way. These organizations set the standard for leadership and community support by locking in their increased campaign donations during the summer months. This year on Friday, September 23, 2011, Fremont Federal Credit Union held their 1st Annual Chicken Barbeque to help the United Way of Sandusky County. The event was a tremendous success! Thank you to all who supported us and United Way! United Way brings the community together to help those in need through an annual campaign to support local nonprofit agencies, serves as a resource in identifying and assessing community needs, provides information about community services, promotes volunteerism, and focuses resources on areas of education, health and income.

The REACH career education program, is designed to introduce area upper-elementary school students to the “world of work”. Consultants from area Business Partners visit schools on a monthly basis to discuss the types of jobs available at their companies. Lessons are also presented and are designed to encourage youth to develop life skills that will assist in preparing them to join the workforce in the future.
Consultants utilize a curriculum book developed by The Ohio State University – Marion to present a series of lessons which are reinforced by hands-on activities. The highlight of the program for many students is a visit to the Business Partner’s place of business. Approximately 4,350 fourth and fifth grade students throughout Sandusky County have benefited from the REACH program since its launch in seven classrooms at Green Springs School in 2003. For the 2011-2012 school year over 725 students in 31 classrooms in 11 schools are being “reached” by Consultants from 27 Business Partners!

Team FFCU has raised thousands of dollars by doing many fundraisers throughout the years for the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. This is our opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember people we have lost, but also to raise funds and awareness to help save lives. By supporting this organization, we are creating a world where cancer can't claim another year of anyone's life. This is a time to help create a world with less cancer and more birthdays!
